Happy Friday again!  This week sure flew by and, surprise!, we're already nearing the end of October.  I drove down one of our main streets at night recently, Westheimer Road, which passes by the Houston Galleria and through the popular Highland Village, and noticed that the palm trees that line both sides of the street were strung with white Christmas lights.  It got me a little excited for the holiday season, which will be here before we know it.  

I've got some popular pins to share with you today.  And I've been working on organizing my Pinterest boards better and have added some new boards Men (mostly men's fashion/style) and Wedding (just because the photos are so pretty and for those of you looking for wedding inspiration).  My food boards are getting out of control so I'm thinking of splitting them into a few categories.  Right now they are Food -Yummy and Food- Sweets.

On her blog, she provides some of the best step-by-step tutorials I've seen with amazing results.  We're lucky she does what she does so she can be a resource for us.  For this door painting tutorial, she shows what areas to paint in the correct order and with proper technique for professional looking results.

Stacked/Layered Bracelets

Are you a fan of the stacked (or layered) bracelet trend?  I never thought I'd get on board because I tend to be a minimalist with jewelry and it used to bug me when bracelets banged against each other on my arm.  But, I love the look on other women, so I've been giving it a try.  I think I'm converted.  Below is a quick instagram pic (@Honeywerehome) from earlier this week.

Considering I've collected quite a few bracelets over the years, I ordered a jewelry holder on Amazon and I'm so happy with how organized my bracelets are now.  It's a 3-tier white leatherette stand that is really sturdy.

Happy Friday to you!  Do you have any fun plans for the weekend?  I get to finally get a desperately needed haircut and we have a cute kiddo birthday to attend.  And that's it!  I'm cherishing weekends like this that aren't jam packed with errands and activities where it's go, go, go.  I'm trying to slow down and keep visiting with my parents and cook and exercise more. I'm talking about my current cardio routine on Honey We're Healthy today if you want to check it out.  I know there will be weekends in the future that are crazy busy and when that time comes, I'll have to embrace it and go with it, but for this weekend, it's time to chill.

I Heart Michael Kors

My crush on Mr. Kors is pretty obvious and his summery collection of tan leather heels and wedges are perfection- he really nailed the color. I've been looking for a two-tone watch for awhile now and this one is simple and pretty.  May have to indulge- after Father's Day, of course.  Hope all the Dads have a great Father's Day this weekend!

Outfit Planning for the Week

Hope you are relaxed from a great weekend!  I spend the better part of mine getting James' book nook ready and photographing it for the Pottery Barn Kids & PBS Kids challenge that goes live on June 17.  The blogger who creates the winning space gets to giveaway a $500 gift card to one of her readers, so I hope that's one of YOU! :)

Last night when I was picking out my clothes for the week, I realized I'd never shared that organizing tidbit with you and wondered if part of your Sunday night routine includes this too.  I only take about 15 minutes to choose the outfits and if I'm ambitious, I'll include some accessories too.  I put everything together on a rack at the back of my closet.  This saves so much time in the morning where I could be standing in a closetful of clothes with "nothing to wear."

I put the outfits in order from Monday to Friday, but may not necessarily end up wearing them that way.  I try to plan for business meetings or days when I need to be extra dressy or really comfortable.

I do this with my son's clothes too.  He's dressing himself these days though!

Sunday evenings are full of weekly preparations around here, including folding and putting away laundry while watching cooking shows (quirky habit), laying out clothes like above, getting James' snacks ready for the week (chopping fruit and portioning out), and mapping out the week in general on my calendar.

Retail Therapy

With some time to kill before meeting a girlfriend for lunch, I popped into DSW.  Dangerous.  Two pair of cute wedge sandals demanded to come home with me.  They are both Audrey Brooke, a brand I've never heard of before, but really like- cute and comfy.  I didn't realize DSW had an online store, but found it for you. :)

Valentine's Day Manicure

In honor of the upcoming romantic holiday, I had some fun with my manicure opting for an accent color on my ring fingers.  I'm fond of this trend right now, are you??  Too bad my first fingernail is so short compared to the rest!  My 3-year old didn't seem to care.  When I got home from the nail salon and he saw my pink nails, he said they looked, "beautiful."  Melted this mama's heart.  I told him thank you and explained that all  girls like to be told they are beautiful- it's a nice thing to say.  You can't start too early;)

This is a shellac manicure (which I highly recommend because the paint stays fresh for about two weeks!) I don't recall the name of the pale pink color, but the brighter pink is called Pink Flamenco.  

I did my toes in the brighter pink too.  Maybe I can pair those toes with these BCBG sandals?!

Would be a sweet V-day gift!  Do you have anything special on your Valentine's wish list?

Wild for Wedges!

Our weather has been absolutely gorgeous lately, bright sunny days that are cool enough to comfortably enjoy and warm enough to start thinking about Spring fashion.  By March, it will be time to put away the boots and start wearing wedges again.  And aren't they so much more comfortable than a slim heel?  I like my wedges pretty high (I'm a shorty), and for fun, colorful!  I always keep a metallic and black pair available though, since they go with everything.

My Favorite Boutique and New Goodies

Shame on me for having this blog for nearly a year and a half and never sharing with you my favorite boutique!  I first found this woman's playground while in NYC with my best guy friend Joey over 15 years ago.  The store is filled with three glorious levels of makeup, skin care products, fragrances, unique accessories, jewelry, sunglasses, bags, scarves, travel bags, and clothing.  They even carry pet accessories.  Ladies, I present you: Henri Bendel.

Every time I go to NY, I make it a point to stop in, even if it's just to look around.  The last time I was there with my hubby, he had to work, so I got to spend an obscene amount of time browsing around, getting a makeup application (they sell Mally cosmetics, which I love) and trying not to droll over everything in sight.

Unfortunately, there is no Henri Bendel in Houston, however, they opened one in Dallas' Northpark Mall a couple years ago, so naturally we had to go there when we went to Dallas last weekend- I had never been. The Dallas store is much smaller than the flagship 5th Avenue store, but fun nonetheless.  

I came home with these goodies:

A clutch purse in the signature Henri Bendel brown and white stripe.  It's purple on the inside.

A giant coffee mug and two bracelets (the striped bangle bracelets were purchased at a previous trip to the NY store).  They have every color and lots of prints to choose from too.  I love my new white one and it's smaller than the striped bracelets so it fits my wrist better.

The black leather and gold studded bracelet is awesome too and comes with a HB gold and silver charm.

And I chose this classic round keychain, but they have lots of other styles too.

I have a few of their cosmetic bags too, so they deserve a mention:)

I loved this store and the memories of visiting NY so much (it's the first place Jimmy and I traveled to) that we even named our first babies "Henry" and "Bendel".  Okay, I named them and my husband went along with it.  (Sadly, our dogs are no longer with us in case you're wondering why I've never mentioned them before, but in their honor, I just couldn't leave them out of this post:)
